Who is Eligible for LEED GA Exam?
You are eligible to appear for LEED GA exam if you satisfy any one of the three conditions:
- LEED Project Involvement: You have experience working on a LEED registered project, OR
- Employment: You have experience working in sustainable field of work, OR
- Education: You have enrolled in or completed Education Programs that address green building principles.
How to document experience for LEED GA Exam?
You should document experience in the form of a letter from and signed by your supervisor/ client/ project manager/ teacher. This letter should describe your involvement on the job/ project/ classroom. The relationship between the author of this letter and you should be clear in this letter.
The letter must be on a letter head, and the letter itself should not be more than 750 words.
1. Documenting LEED Project Involvement:
- As part of LEED registered project team, you should be providing support by researching, managing templates, coordinating meetings, tracking consultants/ contractors, or keeping documentation for review, etc. This should be stated in the letter.
- Submit a screenshot of LEED Online which captures project name, your name and your role in the project.
2. Documenting Employment:
- The letter must state how your profession or company relates to green building industry or environmentalism.
- The letter should clearly state your job title, and dates of employment.
3. Documenting Education:
- The letter must state the names of courses for which you were enrolled, and also the names of course providers.
- State dates of your enrollment for the course.
- Explain how the course(s) relates to green building or LEED.
- In case you cannot get a letter from your course provider, GBCI will also accept an official transcript or certificate of completion.

How can I qualify for an LEED GA exam if I do not satisfy any of the 3 listed condition above ? I am an architect without any sustainable experience,but I am wiling to start learning and taking the first step, which is LEED green associate exam. thank you
